Pantun Sunda

Pantun Sunda, a performance tradition from West Java, is usually performed before or after ceremonial events and it combines ritual arts, music and literature. The songs sung by the storyteller are usually accompanied by the sitar or a traditional instrument called kecapi (tarawangsa).

The stories in Pantun Sunda are often based on the legends of Princes from the kingdom of Galuh and Pajajaran. It is safe to assume that Pantun Sunda symbolizes the spiritual journey that one must take before achieving a new level of expertise.
