Leles Lake

This sepia card, unsent, was produced by Visser & Co. in Batavia, Leles Lake is located north of Garut, West Java. Near the lake is the site of the only Hindu temple in West Java. The card depicts three local fishermen who advance their narrow boats by bamboo poles. Visser & Co. had branches in Bogor and Bandung, with the main office in Rijswijk, Batavia. Rijswijk was a "city block" within the area of Weltevreden located just north of the Governor-General’s palace (the Presidential Palace today) and the Visser Company, abutted the canal that separated Rijswijk from Noordwijk, another city block to the north.
