Werkudara is the name that Bratasena assumes when he reaches maturity. His clothing is different in that Wrekudara wears the clothing of a warrior and his previously untied hair is now tied in the gelung knot.

Werkudara is a supernaturally powerful and strong warrior whose magic weapon is his own long thumbnails, kuku pancanaka. These are said to be seven times sharper than a razor blade. Werkudara also has the magical power of controlling the wind: he can topple a mountain with this power. He never proceeds slowly; when he moves, he leaps, each leap seven times the range of vision of an elephant.

In his youth Wrekudara, still known as Bratasena, marries the daughter of Hyang Anantaboga, Dewi Nagagini, who bears him a son, Raden Antasena. He leaves his young bride while she is till pregnant. After the child is grown up he goes in search of his father and confronts him, but is not recognized. Antasena must prove himself by defeating his powerful father. Antasena seizes Wrekudara and renders him immobile; he is thereupon acknowledged as WrekudaraÂ’s son.
Wrekudara has considerable supernatural power and is virtually invincible. However, his tow sons, Antasena and Gatutkaca, are even more powerful than he. To test their strength he forces them to fight him. Wrekudara loses; but his defeat is a great source of pride for he knows that he has raised two powerful and invulnerable warriors.

Wrekudara has telengan eyes and a large, slightly bulbous nose; he has a moustache and beard and wears a poultice on his forehead. His hair is tied in the supit urang knot. He wears waderan ear ornaments and the rest of his clothing is as described for Bratasena.
