Kakrasana

Raden Kakrasana is the son of Prabu Basudewa and Dewi Rohini. Upon his accession to the throne of Madura he is called Prabu Baladewa. Kakrasana is often referred to as the twin brother of Raden Narayana though Kakrasana’s skin is pure white, while his brother’s is pure black. Actually, however, Kakrasana is Narayana’s half-brother. Kakrasana is the son of Dewi Rohini and Narayana of Dewi Dewani, but Dewi Dewani dies in childbirth and Narayana is nursed by Dewi Rohini, who then adopts him as her own.

Kakrasana has kedondongan eyes, a refined nose and mouth. He wears a diadem with the garuda ornament in back, though his hair flows down his back. He wears the bulan sabit necklace–the indication of a young warrior. He wears anklets, bracelets and armbands. His dress is the katongan. There are three varieties (wanda) of the Kakrasana puppet: Kilat, Sembada and Bangbang Wetan.
