Garuda is the name of a large bird [peksi] said to be the king of birds. He wears a diadem and can speak like a human being. In battle he attack his enemies by pecking at them with his bill. He is also useful in battle by serving as a mount for men. In the story of Prabu Bomanarakasura, the king rides on a garuda known as Wilmuka, which has a raksasa face and is capable of biting with its teeth and of walking on the ground.
